Wanaka Lakehouse is the perfect place for families of all sizes. The Sky Penthouse offers ample space for parents with children. It includes a large lounge, kitchenette, dining area and office facilities. Bedrooms include a super king master with cute children’s hideaway twin beds. Quite possibly the quirkiest bedroom in New Zealand! There is also a queen and single day bed in the lounge area.
Downstairs, children can enjoy our well-stocked games room, full of board games, ping-pong, foosball, pool table, and even an arts & crafts station.
Because our chemical-free pool is within the living area, children are never far from your watchful eye. Windows in the sauna allow parents to rejuvenate while children play. Glass doors keep noise to a minimum should you prefer to relax next to the stone fireplace with a glass of wine.
The gardens allow immediate access to Lake Wanaka for family outings and strolls. Pack your own picnic or we can arrange a deluxe picnic hamper filled with gourmet food and cozy blankets. Our 2 stand up paddleboards are a fantastic way to enjoy the lake at any age.
Wanaka Lakehouse is also the perfect hub for a ski or snowboarding holiday, with the family on two of the best downhill ski fields in the country. Both within easy access, Cordrona is totally family-oriented and Treble Cone, while also family-friendly, offers more advanced terrain. Both fields offer family lessons in skiing and snowboarding, as well as freestyle camps, from some of the top Olympic level instructors in the world!
After a full day on the ski fields, relax by the fire and create your own pizza for rotation cooking in our soapstone pizza oven. The oven creates a hub in the centre of the house for family dinner gatherings in a cozy environment complete with a 42” TV and DVD player.
If you can tear yourself away from the house, Wanaka offers up a host of family-friendly activities. Kids will love the mind boggling 3D maze at Puzzling World. Then in the evening, visit Cinema Paradiso for an incredibly unique cinema experience. Seating is on lovely comfy couches, complete with freshly baked cookies during intermission. Parents can also enjoy a glass of wine.
